Mr. Manheim began his career in healthcare over fifteen years ago as an appraiser with Camdan & Associates specializing in appraisals of various healthcare businesses, including physician practices, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. After graduating from law school in 1993, Mr. Manheim began practicing healthcare law with the law firm of O’Faherty & Belgum, where he represented various healthcare providers. Mr. Manheim remained there for two years before joining DaVita Inc., the second largest provider of dialysis-related services in the world. While with DaVita, Mr. Manheim specialized in mergers and acquisitions and business development, helping the company close nearly 100 separate transactions, including joint ventures, asset and stock acquisitions and management arrangements. The company grew from 46 centers to nearly 600 between the beginning of his involvement with the company in 1995 and his departure in 2004. Mr. Manheim was also responsible for overseeing the company’s intellectual property portfolio, negotiating the leases for its operations, and coordinating the legal work on multiple public debt and equity offerings by the company. Additionally, Mr. Manheim served on the Board of Directors for one of DaVita’s subsidiaries that had annual net revenues of nearly $280 million. Mr. Manheim graduated from the University of California San Diego in 1988 and from Southwestern Law School in 1993.
